In California and across the country, significant progress has been made for the advancement of rights in the workplace. However, even in today’s more progressive society, things like discrimination continue to happen at an alarming rate. A woman in another state has filed a lawsuit against her former employer after allegedly experiencing discrimination and loss of employment due to her age and disability. According to the suit, the woman was assigned a new manager and was forced to increased her workload while the new manager and other co-workers consumed illegal drugs while at work. Allegedly, after making complaints, the plaintiff was threatened by the new manager.
The plaintiff also claims that she suffers from health disabilities and her manager purposely increased her workload in an attempt to get her to resign from her position. The woman was eventually terminated, the lawsuit says. She accuses her former of employer of disability and age discrimination and seeks damages, back pay and all other just relief.
Those that face discrimination can be permanently scarred by the trauma that comes with such an experience.
