Former employee of media conglomerate subjected to retaliation

No person should have to put up with a hostile environment at work. However, even in today’s progressive society, things like harassment and discrimination still occur far too often in workplaces across the country. Recently, a lawsuit was filed against NBCUniversal in Los Angeles, California, over allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation.

The lawsuit was filed by a former female employee of the media conglomerate NBCUniversal. In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that she was subjected to sexual harassment and a hostile work environment by her direct supervisor. She claims that she was retaliated against after complaining and reporting the alleged sexual harassment.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff reported the harassment to human resources, but nothing was done, and she was still assigned to the same supervisor. The plaintiff claims that she even experienced mental and physical disabilities due to the alleged harassment that greatly affected her personal and professional life. Allegedly, the woman was placed on paid sick leave and was eventually terminated from her position. She claims her termination was in retaliation for reporting the alleged sexual harassment.

Laws exist at the federal and state level to protect employees from harassment, discrimination and retaliation in the workplace. Unfortunately, these laws do not stop workers from facing hostile work environments. In fact, recent statistics show that claims citing retaliation in the workplace are on the rise. Workers in California who feel they have been subjected to harassment or retaliation at work can pursue legal action. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in fair and just compensation to help victims through these difficult circumstances.
